Proof of Play: What Evidence Should a Screen Campaign Provide?

Use photographs and delivery records to review whether an advertisement ran as agreed.

Proof of play helps establish that a campaign was delivered. Different evidence answers different questions. A photograph can show the creative appearing on a display, while a playback record can describe repeated delivery over time. Neither should be stretched beyond what it establishes. Agree the evidence before a campaign begins and make sure it can be tied to the correct booking, screen and approved advertisement.

Use photographs for visual confirmation

A useful photograph shows the advertisement clearly enough to identify the creative and its display context. Ask for views that make the screen recognisable and avoid unnecessary personal information. Two different photographs are more useful than duplicate files. They remain a sample of delivery rather than proof that every scheduled play occurred.

Use logs for the delivery timeline

When available, request records showing the screen identifier, creative identifier and playback period. Understand whether the report represents actual playback, a planned schedule or an export assembled by the operator. Ask about missing records and interruptions. Retain the original report so later comparisons do not depend on screenshots of a summary.

Tie evidence to the booking

Save the booking dates, approved creative version and agreed delivery commitment alongside the evidence. If the material does not match, request clarification before approving completion. A recognisable screen displaying the wrong creative is not the agreed result. Evidence should support a clear decision rather than simply fill a required upload field.

Give exceptions a review route

Document outages, late starts and substitutions. Agree whether additional delivery, a credit or another remedy is appropriate under the booking terms. Keep a human review step for disputed or unclear evidence. Releasing money or marking a campaign complete should reflect the documented agreement, not an assumption based on a single system status.

Frequently asked questions

Do two photographs prove a whole month of delivery?

They can confirm two observed moments, but do not establish every play throughout the month. Use the full agreed delivery record when evaluating that broader claim.

Should photographs include faces or private details?

Avoid unnecessary personal information. Frame the screen and the relevant advertisement. Share evidence only with the people authorised to review the booking.

Put the plan into practice

Explore currently listed advertising screens, prepare an authorised screen listing, or organise your company workspace. Confirm the actual inventory, delivery and supported connections before committing to a campaign.
